Gruene United Methodist Church is a growing, vibrant, and Spirit-led congregation of the United Methodist Church, where new faces are joining each week and deep connections are being formed. We are a church that celebrates authentic community, passionate worship, and lifelong spiritual growth.

We are currently seeking the person God is calling to serve as our Director of Discipleship and Connections—someone who understands that discipleship is not a program but a journey, and that deep relationships are essential for spiritual growth.

The ideal candidate will be:

  • Rooted in faith: Committed to a personal life of faith, prayer, and integrity.
  • Passionate about people: Eager to help others grow in their knowledge and love of God and the grace of Jesus Christ.
  • Relationally gifted: Able to foster authentic connections within the church and the wider community.
  • Creative and proactive: Excited to develop new opportunities for spiritual growth and belonging.
  • Community-minded: Willing and excited to be involved in the life of the New Braunfels area.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement discipleship pathways for all ages and stages of faith.
  • Help new guests and members get connected into the life of the church.
  • Support and encourage small group ministry and spiritual formation opportunities.
  • Collaborate with staff and lay leaders to cultivate a welcoming, engaging church culture.

Qualifications

  • A deep personal faith in Jesus Christ.
  • Strong relational, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Previous ministry or discipleship experience preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, but not required.
